We train all breeds of pointing dogs for hunting/field work and we offer two options:
You take part in group training sessions where you learn to train and handle your dog with our guidance. These sessions are usually done on a weekend.
Your dog stays with us and we train it. Dogs are boarded in the house and trained twice daily.
For the second option, the length of time your dog stays with us depends on what type of training you would like us to do. The more training involved, the longer the stay.
For either option, we will meet with you and your dog first to discuss what type of training you want for your dog. We will also evaluate your dog prior to making a training plan.
For either option, we train:
Introduction to birds - using check cords and blank guns
We introduce the dog to live birds (quail), point drills, field commands, introduction to the electronic collar, and the proper introduction to gunfire.
We will start developing your dog's pointing instinct and retrieving ability. Your dog will have the hunting experience, know the electronic collar, be steady on point, and if you desire, your dog will be steady to wing and shot.
